Mark Andrews brings an extensive background and unique perspective to the Exemplar Team.  His business, finance and consulting experience - in and out of the motion picture industry - is invaluable to Exemplar customers and colleagues alike.

 

Mark’s career includes success as an independent film producer and director with a variety of media companies in the UK and USA, as well as various positions within the finance industry, ranging from risk analyst to management consultant for several international banks.

 

During his time in the corporate finance world, Mark became interested in the film industry and has since been involved in making a number of award winning short films, which led to feature films such as Mainline Run, Distant Shadow and Redemption Road.

 

Learning first hand how to develop, finance, produce and distribute feature films, Mark was inspired to use this knowledge and his keen business acumen to form an innovative film fund to ensure a firm foundation for funding future projects.

 

In 2002 Mark formed Studio Finance, a UK film tax fund and production company, utilizing the UK government’s film production tax breaks to raise £15m and was instrumental in working with producers all over the world to structure a $75m slate of films.

 

Mark consulted to a UK-based film-financing group, UK Film Services (UKFS), which was responsible for $340 million of tax shelter funding for the UK film industry.

 

Relocating to Los Angeles, Mark was able to leverage his international relationships, consulting on a number of film, television and media company projects, and created several other film financing vehicles.

 

Mark has been VP of Production and Acquisitions at Regent MB (Now Magnet Media Group), a newly formed finance, production and distribution entity with $250m under management.  He was also co-founder of A2 Media, advising clients in the film industry on the development, financing and production of their projects; and has created and consulted on several film slate funding structures.

 

At Exemplar, Mark leverages his extensive film industry relationships and impressive know-how to form and lead innovative film funds and finance products that emphasize risk mitigation for investors.  His industry relationships include notable Hollywood producers and directors who have produced some of the most successful films of the past 20 years.

 

Mark has a philanthropic voice and is currently a media advisor to the non-profit ‘One Giving’, and is working to form the ‘Meaning of Life Foundation’ - a way of changing lives through entertainment.

 

Originally from Brighton, England, Mark holds a Degree in Business and Finance from Brighton College.
