Gerrit works with start-ups and small businesses on the full range of their corporate legal issues. He has experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating IP license agreements, trademark registration, corporate formation and governance, and with compliance in private offerings of securities.
Gerrit brings significant experience in public policy and government including time at the Governor’s Office of Policy and Planning, the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General, where he worked as a legal advocate, representing ratepayers in litigation with utility companies. He has also drafted model legislation in the health and employment law fields for Massachusetts and New York state.
Gerrit has also extensively studied legal and practical issues affecting nonprofit organizations, and has published an article on federal tax issues for high-revenue religious nonprofits.
Gerrit holds a BA with high honors from Carnegie Mellon University and a JD from New England Law. He is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
